SINCE 2011
The JISU Experience has been a steadfast advocate for children and youth impacted by separation from their biological or environmental families due to foster care, kinship care, adoption, or life circumstances such as death or divorce. Rooted in compassion, the organization is committed to helping siblings maintain meaningful connections, nurturing personal identity and creating pathways to emotional healing and long-term success.
WE SERVE
JISU serves children and youth wherever they are — because, as our motto says, ‘sibling separation knows no boundaries.’
We welcome children ages 7–22 (and sometimes younger) who have been separated from, or reunited with, siblings — whether biological or environmental. Our free programs include mentoring, counseling, sibling reunification activities, road trips, camp, and more.
By bringing siblings together early, we help them rediscover their bond, process their experiences without shame or guilt, and understand the power of shared connection. At JISU, they’re reminded: you are seen, you are valued, and you are never alone.
Program Highlights & Past Initiatives
One of the most important bonds a child can form is with their siblings. Shared experiences within the same household create a unique connection that only brothers and sisters truly understand.
When separation occurs, that bond is strained—sometimes to the point of becoming fragile or even broken. Even when siblings are reunited, the journey of rebuilding that connection can be challenging.
At JISU, we believe that the sibling bond can be healed, restored, and strengthened—with the right support and intentional care.
Core JISU Programs
JISU programs focus on strengthening sibling and family connections, supporting emotional wellness, and creating safe spaces for expression, healing, and growth. Programming is offered based on capacity and community need.
Signature Initiatives
MMHARP is a community support initiative providing connection, referrals, and navigation support for individuals and families experiencing housing and food insecurity.
Camp JISU
Camp JISU brings together brothers and sisters—whether connected by blood or by shared life experiences—for a safe, neutral, and transformative five-
day camp. In this supportive environment, siblings reconnect through shared activities, relive cherished memories, and create new ones, all while rebuilding and strengthening their bond for the journey ahead.
“
… having my sibling made Camp JISU better because me and my brother worked as a team…It meant a lot to me. It was a great thing.”
A Moment of Impact
A Day with Trenton Circus Squad
The Trenton Circus Squad delivered an unforgettable workshop experience for the children of JISU. Together, we explored the dedication, discipline, and teamwork it takes to become a circus performer.
Participants—kids and even a few brave adults—had the chance to try the trapeze, walk the tightrope, master stilts, juggle, ride the mini cycle, and more. One of the most powerful moments was building human pyramids—an exercise that reminded us all that true strength comes from supporting one another.
The day was a joyful and impactful lesson in collaboration, balance, and trust.
